Before starting a design, it is important to undertake an in depth site analysis and appraisal including soil samples, and photographs. A topographical survey will also be required to record measurements, levels, boundaries, drains, utilities, trees and elements of the garden that are to remain.
Normally the topographical survey is carried out by a land surveyor, I have a number of contacts who can give you a quotation for this work. For small and less complex sites, I may be able to carry out a survey for you. The survey is drawn to scale and forms the basis from which a design can develop.
Once your garden is surveyed and analysed, I will use that information, your answers to the design questionnaire combined with information gathered from our discussions, to produce a garden report and summary of your design brief.
